Beauty's Dark Side
Many individuals suffer from severe nut allergies, which can lead to life threatening reactions. By ensuring that our products are free from nuts, we not only prioritize safety but also foster an inclusive environment for everyone. Nut Allergy
According to most studies, around 1-2% of the U.S. population (6.6 million Americans) is estimated to have a nut allergy, with this number encompassing both peanut and tree nut allergies combined.
Several large companies use almond and jojoba (huh·ho·buh) oil in their products. Therefore it is very hard to find products that are accessible to those with nut allergies. I want to spread awareness of this issue and help those that struggle with this same issue. The same large companies use too many unnecessary chemicals and add an abundance of fragrance which can damage the skin over a period of time. Companies will claim to have moisturizing properties but they do not add nourishing ingredients and usually add more damaging ingredients.
Eczema
Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, affects around 10–30% of children and 2–10% of adults (16.6 million adults) in the United States. Eczema is the strongest risk factor for the development of a food allergy. Severe forms of eczema can substantially affect quality of life. The causes of the condition remain unclear. Eczema, psoriasis, and other skin conditions need oils that our bodies do not produce naturally. Our soap will leave your skin feeling less stripped than store bought. I feel that is very important to those with dry skin.
My name is Hailey, I am the owner of Gruesome Beauty. Growing up with eczema and a tree nut allergy was a constant challenge, but it also shaped who I am today. As a child, I was always cautious, carefully reading labels and avoiding things that could trigger an allergic reaction. I still have to look at every label. My eczema was another struggle; the relentless itching and discomfort often made me self conscious and frustrated. But these experiences ignited a passion in me to create solutions, especially for those with similar sensitivities. I wanted to make products that were safe, nourishing, and kind to all skin types. The combination of my personal struggles and desire to help others led me to build a business centered around creating skin friendly, allergy conscious products that could provide comfort and confidence to those with sensitive skin and allergies like mine. Today, my journey continues to fuel my commitment to making a difference for others who understand what it's like to face these daily challenges.
